The international code group is the most difficult of code undertakings to research, as you can imagine.  I really can use some help here.  I've begun with the basics and shall build as I have additional information:

These can be ordered from ANSI in New York, USA.  They are the US agent for all standards promulgated by ISO and IEC.  ANSI has a catalog of international standards available for purchase.

England and Northern Ireland

The relevant Standards for escalators are BS 5655 (now incorporated within European Standard EN 81; @Lifts and Service Lifts.

Part 1 covers Safety Rules for the construction and installation of lifts and service lifts.

Part 2 deals with Hydraulic Lift construction and installation.

Part 3 covers electric service lifts

Part 4 not allocated

Part 5 gives standard dimensions (loads, speeds and installation arrangements for hydraulic and electric traction lifts

Part 6 is the Code of Practice for selection and installation

Part 7 covers manual control devices

bullet

Part 8 is the specification for eyebolts for lift suspension

Part 9 deals with guide rails

bullet

Part 10 is the Specification for the testing and inspection of electric and hydraulic lifts

Parts 11 and 12 deal with recommendations for the installations of new and the modernization of electric and hydraulic lifts in existing buildings.

Part 14: Specification for hand powered service lifts and platform hoists.
